Who is Maiky Lin?
I am an industrial design engineer, with a background in aerospace engineering and a passion for mechanics. I strive to be the designer for the modern era.
I come from the Netherlands, where I grew up being fascinated by anything high tech and boundary pushing. I wanted to create the next future of human technology. From a young age I was a tinkerer, not thinking what my limits were, but what the possibilities could be.
I completed my first year of the Aerospace bachelor at TU Delft. Here I gained my mechanical, mathematical and theoretical framework. However, I did not find my home here. I wanted this knowledge to be a tool for me to create, to make things.
I found my home at Industrial Design Engineering. Here I could forge my own path ahead into the designer and maker I wanted to be. I used the knowledge from my mechanical background to enhance my design projects and increase my skill set. I joined the Honours Programme, to explore the possibilities afforded to me.
Now, I am a designer, a maker, and a dreamer. I want to create things that are meaningful and long-lasting in order to create things that I am proud of. To create meaningful products it is necessary to tackle ambitious projects and make myself and others proud of my work.
In the future I will continue pushing my boundaries and the design landscape forward. I will never be done learning as there is so much more to explore and create.
